Sex therapy can help you if you are experiencing difficulties in your love life.
All couples go through periods where they don’t have the time or energy for regular sex. If this has become the norm and you would like to rediscover your sex life, then Relate’s sex therapy programme may be right for you. It’s natural to want better sex with your partner and sometimes there are specific reasons for your difficulties. Don’t be embarrassed about it – get help from the experts.
Our sex therapy service has been highly successful since it was introduced. Over 93% of men and women who have completed this type of counselling have reported a significant improvement in their sexual relationships.
As with all our services, this type of counselling is completely confidential. We will not reveal any information about you to a third party unless someone’s personal safety is at risk.
Who is it for?
The service is for individuals or couples experiencing sexual difficulties.
How do we work with these problems?
We carry out careful assessment with a trained psychosexual therapist who will help you to develop a programme that is right for you.
Decide if you would prefer your counselling face to face at one of our venues or whether you would rather have booked phone counselling sessions. If you’re not sure which you’d prefer, take a look at the online and phone counselling pages or give us a call.
If you want face to face counselling, Relate will ask you to come for a consultation with a counsellor. This session is to talk about your difficulties and to explore what help would be appropriate for you. The counsellor will explain what counselling involves and answer any questions you might have. If at the end of the consultation it is agreed that Sex therapy may be helpful we will ask you for details of your availability and will contact you when an appointment becomes available. You will see the same counsellor each time.
Is there a cost?
If you have a GP registered in Hull or East Yorkshire, they can refer you to this service at no cost. Please contact them to arrange a referral letter to be sent to us. If you wish to self-refer it costs Relate £45 to provide a session of therapy so any donation received is appreciated. We are a not-for-profit service and the amount you donate can be discussed with your counsellor.
